Healing Little Hearts is a UK based registered children’s charity that provides free heart surgery (open heart surgery and interventional cardiac catheterisation) to babies and children in the developing parts of the world.
Every year more than a million children are born with Congenital Heart Disease worldwide. Sadly, only 10% of these children receive the life saving treatment they desperately need. The vast majority of those who do not receive the treatment live in the countries we visit.
Our primary aim is to ensure all children are given the opportunity to live the life they deserve. With your help we can make a difference.

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a problem with the structure of the heart which is present at birth. The cause is not fully understood but can be brought about by a number of possible medical and genetic factors. The anomalies include abnormal formation of the heart's valves, defects (holes) in the septum that divide the chambers and a sometimes almost a complete absence of one side of the heart. Defective hearts can be fatal or present a number of limitations that adversely affect the quality of life.
The burden of corrective surgery is felt most in those countries with the lowest income per capita, particularly due to the lack of freely accessible healthcare as it in the UK or other western countries. CHD is the most common form of birth defect occurring in 1 per 100 births worldwide.
